Altra founders Golden Harper and Brian Beckstead met in high school in 1997. They've been running together ever since. Even as young kids, these two pursued the sport with passion and commitment, both for fun and in competition. Golden ran his first marathon at age 10 and then set an age group world record two years later.
The Runner's World Best Debut designation confirmed Altra was on the right track—and runners agreed. Altra was just warming up and has continued to receive praise for their breakthrough innovations. Fitted over the top of the shoe and covering the lower ankle, the gaiter prevents debris from finding its way into your shoe or sock. Although the bits of dirt may be small, they can cause irritation on the skin, enough to knock you off your stride. A convenient strapless design allow for easy, snug and comfortable fitting. The material is flexible but also constructed to be strong and abrasion-resistant to stand up to bumps and scrapes on the trails. Highly breathable and lightweight, the ankle won't get overheated with a steady airflow entering and exiting the material. The Altra Trail Gaiters fit any trail shoe, they are especially compatible when paired with Altra GaiterTrap equipped shoes.
